Yhtenä päivänä päätettiin ottaa veneretki toiselle saarelle, jotta loma ei olisi liian yksitoikkoista. Oppaan kanssa käytyjen neuvottelujen jälkeen päädyttiin siihen tulokseen, että lähdetään Koh Kradanille, joka sijaitsee puolen tunnin venematkan päässä Koh Mookista. Retkeemme sisältyi myös snorklausta, kuten yleensäkin noissa retkitarjoamissa, ja myös Emerald Cave -luolan katsaus. Hintaa kertyi vaivaiset 20€ koko viiden hengen porukallemme ja matkamme keston piti olla suunnillen 4-5 tuntia.
Aloitettiin matka poikkeamalla Emerald Cavessa, joka on kuuluisa nähtävyys siellä päin ja sijaitsee meidän Koh Mook saarella. Viiden minuutin matkan päästä opas pysäytti veneen kallion eteen. Ihmeteltiin jonkin verran, että miksi me tänne pysäydyttiin, kun edessä oli vain se kivikallio ja meri. Opas selitti, että siinä se Emerald Cave on, ton kallion takana 80 metrin uintimatkan päässä. Ei osattu jotenkin varautua siihen, että nyt pitää hyppää pois veneestä tonne meren syvyyksiin ja lähteä uimaan ton kiven alle pimeyteen. Kuulosti aluksi aika hurjalta, varsinkin perheen pienimmän 7-vuotiaan mielestä. Siinä oli sitten aikamoinen show saada lapsi pois veneestä neljän henkilön voimin. Itellänikin kävi muutama hassu ajatus mielessä, mutta todettuani, että vene heiluu aalloilla niin hurjasti, että alan kohta voimaan pahoin päätin, että kellun mielummin vedessä.
Näin jälkikäteen sanottuna, kaikki tuo kannatti, kyllä, myös se pimeydessä uinti kallion alla. Sillä se, maisema, mikä siitä avautui kallion toisella puolella oli henkeäsalppaava. Pieni ranta, joka on kaikista suunnista ympäröity kalliolla, eikä sinne pääse muulla tavalla kuin avoimesta merestä päin (ja ehkä helikopterilla. Ihana pieni yksityinen piiloranta, jossa ei ole yhtään mitään, paitsi kalliot ja kasvillisuus. Harmittaa vieläkin, että ei voinut ottaa kameraa mukaan, sen takia, kun piti uida se etäisyys (ei omisteta vesikameraa). Ja veneellä sinne ei tosiaan pääse, liian ahdasta, tai no ehkä jollain pienellä banaaniveneellä, muttei sillä pitkähäntäveneellä, jolla me tultiin. Eikä kannata, se syö kokemusta. Viihdyttiin parikymmentä minuuttia pienellä laguunilla, ja lähdettiin uimaan takaisin veneeseen.
Puolen tunnin päästä saavuttiin Koh Kradanin saaren eteen ja siellä saatiin aikaa snorklaukseen, jonka jälkeen rantauduttiin saarelle. Koh Kradanilla jäätiin oleskelemaan ihananalle rannalle, jossa vesi oli niin turkoosi ja kirkas, että silmiä särki ja hiekka kuin sokeri. Vietettiin rannalla pari tuntia, syötiin ja juotiin kahvit pienessä rantaravintolassa, otettiin niin paljon kuvia, ettei muistikortille jäänyt vapaata tilaa ja lähdettiin sitten takaisin kohti Koh Mookia. Sen enempää aikaa Koh Kradanin saaren tutkimiseen ei ollut, eikä varmaan tarvittukaan, se riitti ihan hyvin :)

One day, we decided to take a boat trip to see some other places around Koh Mook. After short negotiations with the guide we came to decision to visit the island of Koh Kradan, which was quite near our island. Our trip program also included snorkeling, and visiting the Emerald Cave. The price was around 20 € for the entire gang of five person and the duration of our trip was going to be approximately 4-5 hours.
We started our journey by visiting the Emerald Cave, which is a famous sightseeng there and is located on Koh Mook. After a five-minute of sailing our guide stopped the boat in front of the cliff. We wondered for a while about the reason of our stopping in front of a stone cliff in the middle of the sea. The guide explained that the Emerald Cave is behind the cliff and to get there we need to swim under the cliff the 80 meter distance. Somehow we hadn't prepared for the fact that now we have to jump out of the boat in the middle of the sea and start swimming in the dark under a huge cliff. That just didn't sound that easy, especially for our family's youngest, who is 7-year-old. It was then quite a show to get the child out of the boat :D I have to admit that I wasn't myself that comfortable with the idea, cause I'm little bit afraid of depth of the sea. But because the boat was floating a lot on the waves because of a strong wind and I started to get seasickness, I decided that I'd rather be out of the boat than in it.
I have to admit that it all was worth it, even swimming in the darkness under a cliff. The landscape, which we saw after darkness was just indescribably amazing. Lovely small lagoon, a virgin beach which is surrounded from all directions by the cliff, and which is not possible to enter any other way but swimming from the open sea (and maybe on a helicopter). I'm still a little bit annoyed because I coudn't take my camera there to take photos of the view (because we had to swim the distance, and don't own water camera). But you can always find the photos of Emerald Cave in Google, if you are curious, just don't spoil the experience if you are planning to visit it yourself! I don't know if it's possible to enter Emerald Cave with a small banana boat, but the bigger one long tail boat wouldn't fit there. And I think it wouldn't be so exciting with a boat :D We spent about 20 minutes on that small beach just looking around and then left back to our boat.
After half an hour we arrived near Koh Kradan island and got some time for snorkeling. Then we landed on the island. We spent a couple of hours on the lovely beach enjoying the bright turquoise water and sugar white sand. We ate in a small seaside restaurant, took so many pictures that in the end of the trip there was no free space remaining on the memory card, and then we went back to Koh Mookia. It was a really nice day :)
